Elsie Mae Smith Dies At 78 After Extended Illness- Mrs. Elsie Mae Smith, 78, of 707 E. Market St., died at 3:55 p.m. Sunday in Culver Hospital after an extended illness. Born May 31, 1885 southeast of Crawfordsville, she was a daughter of William G. and Lavonda Mason White. She married Fred M. Smith Dec. 28, 1910. Mrs. Smith was a member of the Wabash Avenue Presbyterian Church, Women's Relief Corps, Flower Lovers Club, OES and DAR. Survivors include the husband; a son, Maurice S. Smith of near Crawfordsville; a brother, Fred M. White of Crawforsville; a sister, Mrs. Ruth Binford of Crawfordsville; two grandsons and a granddaughter. She was preceded in death by a daughter, Mrs. Geraldine Oliver, and two brothers, Charles and Harry White. Funeral services are announced for 11 a.m. Wednesday at Hunt & Son Funeral Home here with Dr. John G. DeKruyter officiating. Interment will be in Masonic Cemetery. Friends may pay their respects at the funeral home after 7 p.m. Monday.
